Seven Flows Design
When designing a process or a system we need to consider seven interconnected flows:
- 1. The Requests - for our products, i.e. our goods and services.
- 2. The Consumables - the resources we use to deliver our products.
- 3. The Skills - the knowledge and experience of all the people in the system.
- 4. The Equipment - the tools we use.
- 5. The Estate - the places that we work in.
- 6. The Data - the information that links and synchronises the steps.
- 7. The Cash - the 'fuel'.

Each of these seven flows has its own style and pace. Each connects to all the others in complicated ways.
The whole can behave better than the sum of its parts - so long as the seven flows are designed to work in synergy.
Seven flows design is an effective framework for processes that deliver products or services.
Seven flows design is particularly useful for complex service delivery, such as health care.
Seven flows design applies equally to private (for profit) and public (not for profit) organisations.
